Questions, answered.
- Is full-resolution background removal really free?
- Yes. The editor exports at the original resolution with no watermark, and single images need no account. Free accounts get 20 images a day; Pro is $9/month and lifts the daily cap.
- What does snipmat handle well?
- Product photos, people and hair, logos, and objects with interior holes — chainrings, lattices, helmet vents, cassette windows. Enclosed holes are opened instead of left solid, and edge pixels have the old backdrop's color bleed removed, so cutouts sit cleanly on any new background.
- Can I remove the background from many photos at once?
- Yes. Batch takes up to 100 images (10 on the free plan) and returns one ZIP of transparent PNGs, each at full resolution. Files that fail can be retried individually.
- Is there a background removal API?
- Yes. One POST request to /api/v1.0/removebg with an API key returns the cutout. Parameters match the remove.bg API, so an existing integration works by swapping the base URL and key. One credit per image at any resolution; free accounts include 50 credits a month, and credit packs never expire.
- Can AI assistants like Claude use snipmat?
- Yes. snipmat runs an MCP server at snipmat.com/mcp. Add it as a connector in Claude, Claude Code, Cursor, or VS Code, sign in once, and the assistant can upload local files, remove backgrounds, and run batches for you.
- What happens to my images?
- They are processed on snipmat's own servers, never used to train models, and deleted automatically — 7 days for anonymous jobs, 30 days for free accounts, 90 days for Pro. There are no ad or analytics trackers on the site.
- Which formats are supported?
- PNG, JPEG, and WebP in, up to 25 MB and 32 megapixels. Output is a transparent PNG by default; the API can also return JPG or WebP on a solid color, or a ZIP with separate color and alpha layers.
- How is this different from other background removers?
- Most free tiers cap exports at a small preview and price by megapixel. snipmat charges nothing for resolution: full size is free on the web, and the API is one flat credit per image whatever the dimensions.
